PT PLN (Persero) states that all electrical infrastructure such as cables up to kWh meters have gone through the testing process and applicable standards. The standardization process is carried out by the PLN Certification Center which is engaged in testing, inspection and certification. Standardization is carried out on materials that will be used by PLN, both on the transmission, distribution, and PLN kWh meters.
"All electrical equipment that we use, such as cables and kWh meters installed by PLN, has gone through a testing phase to be standardized at our place," said PLN Certification Center General Manager, Septa Hamid, in a written statement, quoted Thursday (7/23) / 2020).
With this standardization, all electrical materials installed in PLN installations are ensured to have the same features, facilities and quality despite the different manufacturers.
"These predetermined standards will be a guide for manufacturers that supply their products to meet the needs of PLN," he said.
In addition, in setting equipment standardization, PLN also pays attention to the magnitude of the level of domestic components (TKDN). For example, the PLN standard for prepaid meters is compiled by referring to international standards that apply in the prepaid meter industry and is adjusted to the needs of PLN and customers.
"So whoever the manufacturer is, the standard is the same. For installation equipment we check the quality, for kWh meters we check for accuracy, we have to make sure everything is up to standard," he said.
Not only that, PLN Pusertif also received testing and standardization of electrical equipment that will be used by service requesters.
"So we are not only certifying PLN products, but also for service requesters outside PLN, especially those related to electricity," he said.
PLN's Executive Communication and CSR Executive Vice President stressed, in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, PLN continued to maintain electricity supply and reliability.
