PT Mandiri Manajemen Investasi (Mandiri Investasi) inaugurated the operation of the Koro Kabalo Mini Hydro Power Plant which was attended by Mandiri Investasi's Commissioner Riki Frindos and Taufan Wijaya, the Director of PT Trinusa Energy.
The power plant with a production capacity of 2.2 megawatts (MW) is one of the subsidiaries managed in the Mandiri Infrastructure Equity Limited Participation Mutual Fund (RDPT MIE) portfolio. The plan is to supply electricity from the plant to meet electricity needs in a number of areas in Central Sulawesi Province.
The choice of Central Sulawesi province is not without reason, it is considered to be a very good province in controlling inflation nationally, as evidenced by the two Regional Inflation Control Team (TPID) awards obtained by Central Sulawesi Province in 2020 and 2021 as well as very rapid economic growth.
In addition, the area also has very good potential and will be profitable in the future.
"Yes, we will see and monitor this project together. I am optimistic that the chosen investment location will also have an effect," said Riki while attending the inauguration ceremony.
On a separate occasion, the President Director of Mandiri Investasi, Aliyahdin Saugi, who is often called Adi, explained that one of the sources of funds for the construction of a power plant that uses environmentally friendly New and Renewable Energy (EBT) comes from the Mandiri Infrastructure Equity Limited Participation Mutual Fund (RDPT MIE) which it is specifically designed to support various infrastructure projects that promote environmental friendliness based on New and Renewable Energy (EBT).
"This is in line with government policies and our holding business group: Bank Mandiri, as well as supporting government policies that actively prioritize infrastructure development and an environmentally friendly economy," said Adi, on the sidelines of the inauguration of the PLTMH Koro Kabalo.
Adi added that the investment in the construction of the Koro Kabalo PLTMH came from Mandiri Investasi's funding through the managed funds in RDPT MIE and the debt mix from the banking sector.
The electricity produced by the power plant is directly purchased by PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN), which has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with PT Trinusa some time ago. The government also supports the progress of the NRE industry with the issuance of Presidential Regulation No. 112 of 2022 which regulates the NRE industry.
"Electricity from the Koro Kabalo PLTMH is expected to meet the electricity needs for households and industries in Palu City and other areas, so that it can improve the economy in Central Sulawesi, and of course provide benefits for investors holding RDPT MIE," said Adi.
In addition to the construction of the Koro Kabalo PLTMH, Mandiri Investasi through RDPT MIE has invested in the construction of four other PLTMHs spread across Java and Sumatra.
The entire PLTMH has been operating with a total electricity production capacity of 9.4 MW, including electricity from the PLTMH Koro Kabalo. This is clear evidence of the company's commitment to focus on supporting the development of the renewable energy business.
Mandiri Investasi, as the issuing investment manager and mutual fund manager, plans to continue the operational success of the Koro Kabalo PLTMH, by issuing similar mutual funds, to support the construction of similar PLTMHs in other areas.
Currently, RDPT MIE is developing the construction of PLTMH in West Java and Central Java. The two MHPs are planned to be built in 2023, and are planned to be operational in 2025.
"We are optimistic that the issuance of the MIE RDPT to support the construction of PLTMH in Bogor and Banyumas will get a good response from investors. Reflecting on the operations of the Koro Kabalo PLTMH and four other PLTMHs, it is proven that new and renewable energy-based infrastructure projects are very prospective,” said Adi.
